Update: September 2022
Dine for Democracy Supports Flip the Vote

We are activating the Dine for Democracy network for a one-day campaign for the midterms and the causes we all care about — equal rights, reproductive freedom, democracy, and the welfare of the planet! We are partnering with Flip the Vote this time around, an organization well-known for their data-driven, community-oriented approach.

Flip the Vote’s mission is simple: To educate and engage concerned people to collectively maximize the impact of our political investments and activate our networks in furtherance of a more inclusive, equitable, and just American democracy.

Starting now, they are raising essential funds for seasoned grassroots groups in key swing states working toward three 2022 goals: ensuring Democratic majorities in the U.S. House and Senate; winning important state-level races; and using the midterms to lay the groundwork for the 2024 Presidential election.

We must get people to vote and we’ve learned that the best approach for this is to get dollars in the hands of organizations working on the ground to build trust and power in key communities. Flip the Vote is using data and community organizing to support great work where it matters most…

Update: November 2020
Dine for Democracy Supports a New Fund for Georgia

Beginning November 12th, 2020, Dine for Democracy is directing all new donations to Movement Voter Project’s Georgia Fund to support voter engagement in the January 2021 runoff elections in that state.

This fund supports a cohort of hyper-local grassroots voting organizations working on the ground in Georgia that are led by working families and communities of color, including Fair Fight, Black Voters Matter Fund, The New Georgia Project, and a handful of other regional GOTV groups with proven and effective voter turnout strategies. All of the organizations in this fund are deeply rooted in their own communities for the long haul, not just for this election cycle. They are effective messengers because of the relationship and community building efforts they focus on year-round.

NOTE: MVP and Dine for Democracy do not take a percentage of donations, every dollar you give is re-granted directly to the organizations in the fund. Find more information on this fund and a complete list of recipient organizations HERE.

I believe you’re doing the most critical work to ensure all the other issues our nation is facing right now are improved over the next 4.5 years. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

DINE FOR DEMOCRACY 2020
VOTING FUND

About the Dine for Democracy Voting Fund

From May to October of this year, we raised upwards of $159,000 for a special voting fund we created in collaboration with Movement Voter Project to support 5 grassroots voting organizations working on the ground to get-out-the-vote in critical swing states. The groups include:

The Alliance for Youth Action
Black Voters Matter Fund
Mi Familia Vota
Montana Native Vote
Woke Vote

Together these 5 organizations galvanize voter engagement in communities that have historically faced obstacles to the ballot either because of voter suppression, voter intimidation, language barriers, restrictive voting laws and / or general disillusionment with government. Their work includes registering voters, protecting voting rights, educating voters and increasing voter participation in elections.

MORE ABOUT THE 5 ORGANIZATIONS IN OUR FUND

Alliance for Youth Action is the premier youth vote vehicle in the United States. They mobilize youth voters through innovative voter registration and get-out-the-vote activities, train and mobilize young people to help connect elections to issues, increase access to polling places, fight for progressive legislation, and block policies oppressive to youth rights.

Black Voters Matter Fund  increases power in Black communities through conducting widespread voter registration and get-out-the-vote efforts with a focus on 10 Southern States in the US. They work to advance policies that expand voting rights and access, including advocating for early voting options, resisting voter ID laws, and strengthening the Voting Rights Act. They are driven by the belief that effective voting allows a community to determine its own destiny and they are invested in the communities they serve for the long haul.

Mi Familia Vota (AZ + TX) builds Latino political power by expanding the electorate, strengthening local infrastructures, and conducting year-round voter engagement. They work to ensure increased access to the electoral process for Latino voters and to allow them to exercise their right to vote free of intimidation by educating them on their rights. They also conduct Election Day monitoring to help solve issues at the polls, and in collaboration with partners, file legal cases to protect voting rights, fight voter suppression, and safeguard the civic rights of Latino voters. (NOTE: this fund directs donations to Mi Familia Vota in Arizona and Texas, both critical swing states with key Senate races in November.)

Montana Native Vote builds political power for Native Americans by working on several fronts: election protection, voter rights, civic engagement, candidate recruitment, and public policy advocacy. MNV also provides resources and training for members to engage in the legislative process at the state and federal level. (Indigenous Americans make up 7% of the population in Montana and a key Senate seat will be voted on in November.)

Woke Vote invests in the activation, long-term engagement, training and development of new organizers, and the mobilization of historically disengaged voters of color. They seek to engage registered voters through strategic social media outreach, impactful campus and faith-based outreach, and intensive get-out-the-vote efforts.

ABOUT MOVEMENT VOTER PROJECT

As an umbrella organization, Movement Voter Project helps donors -big and small- drive funds to a coalition of grassroots organizations led by youth and people of color working to protect voting rights in battleground states. They partner with hundreds of leading groups on the ground that turn out unlikely voters and encourage their communities to engage in lasting political transformation.

MVP works at the intersections of social movements, grassroots communities, and elections. Across the country, thousands of organizations are working to build a true democracy and move the U.S. forward on issues of economic fairness, racial justice, immigrants rights, women’s rights, LGBTQ rights, access to healthcare, and environmental sustainability. But not nearly enough direct funding or individual donations go to these groups. In the meantime, billions of dollars are spent each election cycle on TV ads and consultants. Movement Voter Project is working to change that!

(NOTE: the Dine For Democracy Voting Fund is distinct from other general Movement Project funds, so please make donations via our website so we can count your contribution toward our goal.)
